Located in Eldon Iowa and not far from our campsite at Lake Wapello State Park, this side trip was a nice scenic ride for us. We were there for about an hour and got a quick tour of the house. Sadly, they didn’t trust us on the narrow spiral stairs to the upper floor so we only got to see the main level.
The gift shop was nice and amazingly, this was the only place on our entire trip that I purchased a shot glass. Usually, I’m grabbing those shot glasses everywhere I go. I guess I figured I had enough at this point.
While we were there, we could hear trains off in the distance. I thought that was kind of odd because we didn’t cross any train tracks in the small town. There were sure a lot of trains though.
