We took a side trip to the hatchery and Spearfish Canyon while staying at Chris’ Campground (one of many side ventures). The canyon is a beautiful drive out of Spearfish (or to it depending on your point of view) and spent the day enjoying the area.
We got out of the truck and hiked up to this place they call the devils bathtub. It starts off with a nice trail head but eventually turns out to a trek up a gradual incline for a mile or with no distinguished trail. You’re forced into crossing the stream about 15 times. Eventually you come to an area where you can turn around and come back.
We also spent some time at the Spearfish Hatchery. This area is a nice little park (probably the nicest hatchery I’ve been too) with several nice features which included a railroad car converted into a fish transport vehicle. This thing was decked out pretty well.
Anyway, I am attaching my normal load of photos for you to enjoy below.
The following is a 360 photo of the Devils Bathtub. It should spin around at a snails pace but feel free to drag it around.
The following video is a 360 video we took of Spearfish Canyon while driving through. If this doesn’t look good, your browser may not support it. If you open it in the YouTube app, you should be able to look around as we drive through. Good Luck!
