We made our annual trek to Indian Cave State Park again this year. The weather was said to be iffy but we went anyway. As it turned out, we only had any rain on Saturday night and into Sunday morning. That made for a messy muddy mess to work through packing it all up.

This year we tried out the frisbee golf course they had. I bought 4 cheap frisbee kits from Amazon and bags to go with. The course there had major hazards for us as all the holes except number 9, go along a wooded area on one side and if you had any sort of slice or hook (and we all do), you’re going to be looking in tall grass in the woods with leaves of 3. We only left behind one frisbee as there was no way we were going after it. Hole number two is very interesting as they want you to toss over a wooded area or over a bridge (not sure which).

The weather, when not raining, was very hot and very humid. Very rarely did we get a breeze through the campsite but when we did it was appreciated. It was hot as an oven even under the trees. During the day time, we had millions of sweat bees bugging us. At dusk, we had ankle nibblers and when we went to bed, racoons would visit our site and clean up any leftovers.

This year we noticed a small café type shop outside the entrance to the park. We ventured in there and it was run by the nicest couple you could ask for. They had lots of to offer but the ice cream was amazing.

The park itself wasn’t packed but all of our sites were overrun by mud. Also there were large ruts on the side of the sites which made pulling in and out with the trailer a little more interesting. They park seems to be in a bit of decline but who really knows? I mean the small town down by the river is deserted except for the broom maker (same as last year). The horses are gone too. I’d really like to stop and watch the blacksmith but it’s always closed.

We used the hose reel two times to refill the tanks and the wagon to drain the grey water. While I was waiting for the tanks to fill, I watched this bug and I’d sure like to know what was happening with this bug. I took a short video of it carrying around another bug and it seems like it was trying to bury it. I will try and post that video and I’d sure like to hear back on what was happening.

Anyway, posted below are some of the photos from the trip! Enjoy!

Here’s the video of the bug on YouTube.com.
